Electroacoustic Music and the Nature of Human

February 10, 2012

In mid-February, three fellows from IU Bloomington’s Institute for Digital Arts and Humanities performed at this year’s Society for Electroacoustic Music (SEAMUS) conference at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. The first piece, “The Nature of Human” (pictured above) is a work for six dancers, video, and computer music featuring choreography from IDAH Fellow Elizabeth Shea with composition by IDAH Fellow Jeffrey Hass. Students of the IU Contemporary Dance Theatre performed the piece along with video by Rob Shakespeare and Aaron Higgins from the IU Bloomington Department of Theatre. Hass is director of the IU Center for Electronic and Computer Music in the Jacobs School of Music, and Shea is director of the Contemporary Dance program in the School of HPER.
