Remembering Elinor Ostrom, 1933-2012

June 14, 2012

Indiana University Distinguished Professor Elinor Ostrom died June 12, 2012 at the age of 78. The first and still only woman to receive the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, Ostrom is remembered for her groundbreaking career that spanned more than 50 years. She shared the 2009 economics prize with Oliver Williamson of the University of California Berkeley.

Indiana Public Media (WFIU-FM radio and WTIU-TV television) has created special programming honoring Ostrom.

“Elinor Ostrom: Celebration of a Nobel Life” will look at Ostrom’s legacy, her worldwide impact, and how she is being remembered. WFIU-WTIU News will feature streaming video of the documentary along with its online archive of news stories about Ostrom.
