Media Digitization and Preservation at IU

November 13, 2013

Indiana University is home to more than three million media objects (audio and video recordings, films, etc.), many of which are extraordinarily rare and, in some cases, irreplaceable. Many of these media objects also are at serious risk of deterioration and are difficult to access because of now-obsolete formats and playback devices. Indiana University’s recently announced Media Digitization and Preservation Initiative will preserve IU’s vast compendium of historical and cultural artifacts and make them accessible for future generations of students, scholars, and others.
