The Center for Health and Safety Studies serves as the research and service arm of the Department of Applied Health Science, coordinating and supporting research and creative activity for the department's faculty and students. The Center supports all departmental research, funded as well as unfunded, and provides technical and administrative support related to the external grants and contracts awarded to the department totaling over $1 million per year. Ongoing projects include evaluation of comprehensive school health education programs, research into strategies for smoking and alcohol education, public health education, surveys of college student alcohol use, HIV/AIDS education, and other topics.
