The Mission of the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community is to work with communities to welcome, value, and support the meaningful participation of people of all ages and abilities through research, education, and service.
The Institute
provides Hoosiers
services in the following care areas: interdisciplinary training, information dissemination, applied research, and community support services for persons with disabilities, their families, and the professionals that assist them.
The Institute is committed to services that touch the entire life span, from birth through older adulthood. The work of the Indiana Institute is carried out in seven centers:
- Early Childhood Center
- Center on Education and Lifelong Learning
- Center on Community Living and Careers
- Center on Aging and Community
- Indiana Resource Center for Autism
- Center for Disability Information and Referral
- Center for Planning and Policy Studies
The Indiana Institute pursues its mission with support from Indiana University as well as through federal appropriations from the Administration on Developmental Disabilities, a division of the Department of Health and Human Services, and through other grant acquisitions from the state of Indiana, United States Department of Education, the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, and foundations. The Indiana Institute reports to the Trustees of Indiana University and the Vice President for Research and is housed on the Bloomington campus of Indiana University.
