The mission of the Research Institute for Inner Asian Studies (RIFIAS) is to encourage and support scholarly research in all fields of Inner Asian Studies. RIFIAS: (1) develops, maintains, and makes accessible various resources needed for research on Inner Asia (library collections, equipment), (2) provides assistance in the development of research proposals for faculty seeking outside funding for their research, (3) seeks outside funding itself for projects directly related to the establishment or expansion of research resources (e.g., bibliographical projects), (4) issues publications (book and paper series) in Inner Asian studies, and (5) fosters scholarly contacts and interdisciplinary research related to Inner Asia through occasional invited lectures, panels, and colloquia.
