Research Pilot Grant Program (RFP) Round II
Deadline: TBD
Announcing the Indiana University/Purdue University Collaboration
in Life Sciences & Informatics Research (CLSIR) pilot grant
program Request for Proposals
GENERAL INFORMATION
1. The State of Indiana is fortunate in Indiana University and Purdue University to have two major research-intensive, state-supported universities that are recognized leaders with complementary strengths in life sciences and informatics research. While these two institutions collaborate at many levels on programs to advance student learning and to advance the discovery of new knowledge, we believe there exist further opportunities for collaboration and synergy to advance the frontiers of life sciences and informatics research in Indiana.2. It is the vision of this collaborative program that by jointly investing in pilot funding in a few focused areas, Purdue University West Lafayette and Indiana University Bloomington can catalyze the formation of new interactions between researchers that will lead to productive, continuing life sciences and informatics research programs. This follows a similar successful project between Purdue University and the IU School of Medicine.
3. The overall objective of this Collaboration in Life Sciences & Informatics Research (CLSIR) pilot grant program is to foster and encourage collaboration between Purdue University and Indiana University Bloomington faculty to initiate life sciences and/or informatics research projects that have the potential to develop into larger, continuing, externally funded research programs.
4. Successful CLSIR Pilots will have high scientific merit; involve roughly equal participation by Purdue and IUB researchers; and exhibit high potential to leverage external resources and spawn a larger, ongoing research program.
5. Applications to this program are considered small grants and should have a maximum requested amount of $50,000 and be limited to one (1) year duration. During the current fiscal year, this program will fund up to three projects.
